I was honored when my friend and mentor Scott asked me to guest speak at his workshop a few months ago in the Bahamas. Of course I said yes! What a great opportunity it was to not only share a lot of ideas about photography with some talented young photographers, but to relax a little after a long year of weddings! For those of you who don’t know, Scott is a renowned photographer and educator, mentoring students worldwide. Scott offers students several opportunities a year to travel and learn from him – check out his blog for more info: http://scottrobertla.com/
We converged in Miami where we had a meet and greet dinner, and embarked on a cruise to the exotic Bahamas. We had a wonderful group of photographers from Great Britain, New York, Vancouver, Toronto, Houston, Miami, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. During my lecture at the workshop, I talked about some concepts about creative lighting, posing, and composition for wedding photographers. Many of the techniques I discussed were things that I have developed over the past few years shooting weddings. I was hoping to provide some additional inspiration for those who are starting out in wedding photographers, as well as those seasoned veterans who are somewhat stuck in a rut. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to share my material and interact with such a great group! An unforgettable week!
Of course we benefited from some world class locations as we worked on our skills during the photoshoot – here are a few of my images from the week!
Many thanks to our lovely and talented models Ashley, Ella, and Kellie!
